Cherry Bag

I made this cherry bag out of cotton Aranzi (the white character/cherry fabric at the bottom) and pink/red cotton cherry fabric layered over the top (sort of an exaggerate overhang) with a applique patch and fleece white & cherry inner lining. For the strap I was inspired by nico. I have a bag I bought from her etsy shop where I think she had sewn ribbon onto the strap. I used my favorite cherry ribbon (you can see this same ribbon on one of my moms cards from the set I made her) in the same way atop a light pink nylon mesh strap. The button was hand sewn on only the one side of the bag. Hope you like it!

P.S. For you Aranzi fans out there and those of you may remember that I was inquiring about their use of license. I finally did receive an email back from them and they said that none of their patterns or even fabrics are allowed to be used for resale, only personal use! So it's just for fun.

That is so cute! It looks like it's big enough to hold a lot, too!

gina its super cutie i LOVE it the aranzi cherry print and the berry polka dots combo (are they cherries too?) with the cherry applique? eep! its cherrific! absolutely fabulous. trim straps are so cool ey?!

too bad about the licencing (looks over her shoulder) i hope they never see my pics of the times ive sold their dolls at the student fair and at regular fairs. gleep.

when i see the fabric has special instructions not to use for handmade sale i dont buy it coz whats the point for me really. im always thinking this bag is perfect for me! but its so rare i get to keep my faves that ive sewn. they are always being sold coz im always broke ;P

im stoked you have made yourself SUCH a CUTE purse! '-'/

Lovely bag! I love bags and purses... I especially like the button detail.

It's surprising that you can't r-sell items made with the fabric ( not really in this day and age of bizarre copyright) but don't you thnk they would sell a lot more fabric if artisans could use it in their handicrafts? Seems like a flawed plan.

scribbles & bits - thank you, I'll test it out tomorrow when I go to my sewing class!

your favorite wife - thank you so much! A lot of the character fabrics that have little critters and images that we recognize have this limitation. When you go to the fabric store you will commonly see a sign above these fabrics listed as "licensed fabrics". So cute with your little smile : )

nico - you know I was waiting to hear from the bag maker herself! I was so excited to hear what you think. Queen of all things cute! I'm so glad you like it! Yes, cherry, cherry and cherry. Thank you so much for the trim strap inspiration, it really is a great idea and I owe it all to you my dear. Aranzi, at least they are in another country! Yes, it's a good idea to avoid those fabrics! I'm still in practice mode here but if I do eventually expand my shop as I am planning to do, it's a much wiser investment to buy fabric I can get a return on. Thank you so much for your positive support nico! Hugs.

lady k - thank you so much from one artist to another it means a lot! I know, it's disappointing to buy fabric and find out that it comes attached with rules! And you're right, it does make it so that I don't want to buy it, so it is a financial risk for them. Too bad because Aranzi is so darn cute! And thank you so much for your kind compliment and your well wishes, I am feeling better today!

I'm glad to hear that you finally got the answer, but disappointed to hear the answer even though I expected the answer!
