Matryoshka

I made this russian matryoshka doll pincushion as a gift for my mom. It was a super easy project since the design was already printed on the fabric. I just cut them out, filled with batting and stitched them together! I really like the matryoshka concept since it reminds me of infinity and pi, my favorite never ending numbers. Wish these little ladies had more of a smile though! They still brought one to me, hope they do the same for you!

I've added a picture of the original fabric - above.

I knew it! You don't sleep! It's almost noon in Paris so that makes it pretty early in the morning on the west coast... 9 hours difference and all.

Keep on making! :)

You know, those printed dolls on fabric take me back. My grandmother used to supply me with oodles of those from our local fabric store when I was young. I loved them.

Hi lady k, I'm so busted, it was indeed really late last night. It's strange to think that in Paris you are living in such a different part of the day. That must have been a real adjustment, wow Paris!

Hi ladylinoleum, oh I know what you mean I still have a batch of those somewhere but this one was actually just made from just normal fabric, the dolls (about 3X2) made up the pattern themselves. I did this before with a butterfly print fabric, if the prints can be lined up pretty close together right side to wrong side it works pretty well. I should have put a picture of the fabric up!

Hi Kate, yes I just got lucky on this one, I hadn't thought about being able to make a little pincushion out of the fabric until I got home and was looking at it. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
